The story of RWM begins with my grandmother, Natalia Castañeda, a Guatemalan herbal healer, also known as a curandera. In her hometown of Xelaju, modern medicine as we know it was not readily available.  Natalia relied on homemade remedies passed down through generations, curing everything from emotional distress to physical ailments.  Her medicine drew upon the power of plants, and minerals to heal ailments and restore balance.

Much like her Mayan ancestors, Natalia believed that all plant medicine is sacred, and that just about anything could be cured with the magic of herbs, teas, and prayer.  This deep connection to the earth and its healing properties is at the heart of RWM Candles.

We honor Natalia's legacy by crafting candles that blend the wisdom of traditional healing practices with the power of aromatherapy and crystal energy. Each RWM candle is more than just a source of light; it's an invitation to connect with your inner self, find peace, and cultivate well-being.

Vanessa Castañeda empowers individuals to harness the combined magic of herbs and crystals for manifestation, self-love, self-healing, and overall well-being. Her approach is rooted in her experience as a Crystal-Reiki Master Teacher (Usui lineage) and emphasizes education, guiding others to discover their own potential for growth, healing, and balance. Through her Crystal-Reiki services, she helps clients navigate their personal journeys, while her products are designed to support and enhance self-care healing practices.

She believes self-care is essential for achieving balance and fulfillment, though the specific practices are unique and ever-evolving for each person. Honoring our individual process and ourselves is paramount.

As the founder of Rose Witch Magic, she brings a unique blend of expertise to her work. She holds a B.A. in Ethnic Studies & African American Studies from UC Berkeley and an M.F.A. in Photography, Video and Digital Media from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. This academic background, combined with her certifications as a Psychic Medium and Crystal-Reiki Master Teacher, informs her holistic approach to wellness.

In her Crystal-Reiki practice, she utilizes crystals to enhance healing and address imbalances within the body's energy field. By channeling Reiki, the vital life force energy, she facilitates self-healing in her clients. She currently practices and teaches in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The magic of our candles begins with natural waxes and ethically sourced herbs, flowers and essential oils, carefully selected for their therapeutic properties.  But it's the addition of crystals, each chosen for its unique vibrational qualities, that truly elevates our creations. These crystals amplify the intentions woven into each candle, further enhancing their potential for healing and transformation.
